INOUE, Seigetsu (1822?-1887) is a legendary bleaching haiku-poet in Japan.
''冬籠FUYUGOMORI'' means staying at home in winter. It includes the nuance of animal's winter sleep. Sometimes we stay at home without anything to do in cold winyter days, it makes us bored.
In such situation, Seigetsu would gaze at a window and feel a freedom of dreaming about various scenes at it. What kind of scenes do you imagine at it then?

In Japanese tradition, the combination of Mt.Fuji and a hawk is known as a sign of good fortune.
Especially at the day of closing of year, we wish to see the dream of them for the first dream of next year.
Seigetsu would write this haiku to welcome and wish a happy new year.
