Haiku on photo #35

INOUE, Seigetsu (1822?-1887) is a legendary bleaching haiku-poet in Japan.

This haiku is written about 温泉onsen (hot spring).

Taking onsen would make his body warm, he felt easy to walk  and gaze around the seasoned leaves of Japanese maple even in the cold breeze in the evening.

Having a bath with hot tub like onsen -one of the unique custom in Japan- makes our feeling relaxed and reborn.

Haiku on photo #36

It can be imagined that Seigetsu would stay at a home in a cold night and see the housekeeper's behavior of making fire from the emberds buried in ashes at the hearth. He/She would speak something to oneself with blowing on the charcoal and it seemed to him like praying about something at the fire. In old tradition of Japanese, it was a popular custom that worshipping 竃神Kamado-Gami or the God of kitchen rangea to pray for the well-being at home.

And this haiku also sounds like an allegoric scene of inspiring vital energy for the silent passion kept within the deep part of the heart to make it flaming again.
